Lyric:
THE POLITICAL SHUFFLE Jan. 5/89 Karl Rigelhof

Stop this senseless slaughter
Of innocent (human) lives
Father, mother, (son and) daughter
Must (somehow(/)(learn to)) survive
(In) this deadly game
With every/each shuffle of the deck
With each/every card (that (i)s) dealt

The(y) (government) take(s) (the) supplies and money destined for relief
To fuel the war against (its own)/the people (in an) attempt(ing) (to) shatter(ing) their belief(s)
(But) they can't/cannot break the(ir) spirit
Or starve the hunger of/in the(ir) soul(s)
They fight a coward's/useless/losing battle
With casualties beyond a(ny) human toll

The system is eating away at itself from (the) inside
This glutton of corruption has swallowed (its/their) decency and pride

It doesn't feed the hungry
It doesn't cure/heal the sick
It doesn't clothe the needy
It doesn't build/lay with/a brick(s)

Medicine and bandages
For the fallen in battle
Uniforms, guns, (ammo) and rations
To fight against (the) resistance

What will they/you (be) fight(ing) for
When both sides of the struggle are (all) dead/dying
There is only one enemy in/of (this) war
(The drought will/cannot be quenched by (streams of) blood (run) red)
(Until they exorcise the demon(s) (of) greed in their head(s)/mind(s)
(Power and greed devours water and bread)

And after they (ha)ve moved in for the kill
The(ir) blood evaporates before it spills
The(ir) bodies are strewn/piled like (empty) dried out/up husks
Dust upon the wind
